Rockland, ME, November 13, 2020 – The public is invited to join the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) for a Sunday Salon with Biennial artist Susan B. Webster and choreographers KreilkampNicoll on Sunday, November 22 at 3pm. The talk and video screening will be held on Zoom and Facebook Live. Artist Susan Webster of Deer Isle, Maine, will discuss her work, “I Hear Something Coming,” that is included in the 2020 Biennial. Webster began the large-scale work in May of this year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the completion of the work, Webster invited choreographers and performers Laura and Rufus Nicoll, siblings who perform as KreilkampNicoll, to create their own response to “I Hear Something Coming.” The result is “MLTI FEEDS ME,” a cross-channel remote access digital video collage that is designed to transform throughout the duration of the Biennial. The video and Webster’s work are on view at CMCA through spring 2020. 

All three artists will speak about their work and the collaborative process, as well as share a screening of “MLTI FEEDS ME” during the Sunday Salon on November 22. 

Susan B. Webster graduated from the University of Maine and was artist in residence at the Maine Correctional Center, where she created art programming for inmates. Her breadth of work includes volunteering for a domestic violence organization, designing clothes to defend women’s reproductive rights, playing keyboard in a rock band, and mothering two sons.

KreilkampNicoll is comprised of siblings Laura and Rufus Nicoll, artists who identify as choreographers and performers, and include writing and filmmaking as part of their process. 

The 2020 edition of the CMCA Biennial is sponsored by The VIA Agency of Portland and features the work of 34 artists from 17 Maine communities.
