CMCA and independent curator Joanna Spinks invite the public to experience a unique, memorable evening of exceptional contemporary dance in a stunning historical setting. I hunger for you is an enthralling, immersive performance presented by award-winning choreographer Kimberly Bartosik, an alum of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and 2019 Guggenheim Fellow in Choreography. “I hunger for you” premiered at the BAM Next Wave Festival in 2018.

The Midcoast performance of “I hunger for you” will be held at CHURCH, 16 Brewster St, Rockland, on Sunday, October 12 at 7pm. Tickets to the event are $45 and include a cocktail reception and refreshments provided by Sammy’s Deluxe. Advance tickets are available for purchase online at All ticket sales are a donation in support of exceptional performing arts programming in Maine.

Bessie Award-winning performer, choreographer, and educator Kimberly Bartosik creates viscerally provocative, ferociously intimate choreographic projects that are built upon the development of a virtuosic movement language, rigorous conceptual explorations, and the creation of highly theatrical environments. Her work, which is deeply informed by literature and cinema, dramatically illuminates the ephemeral nature of performance.

A member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company for nine years, Bartosik received her BFA from North Carolina School of the Arts, and MA in 20th century art and criticism from The New School. She has been a guest artist/faculty at numerous colleges and universities including Princeton University, The Julliard School, Rutgers University, SUNY/Purchase, and others.

The presentation of “I hunger for you” is made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, as well as generous support from the community and local businesses including 250 Main Hotel, Sammy’s Deluxe Restaurant and Bangor Savings Bank.
