Join Split Rock Cove for a three day intensive focusing on the structure and content of an artist book. Focus on three structures that can yield sculptural possibilities that influence both materials and content. All skill levels welcome for this introduction to new ideas and technique.
Paste Papers 1, with Abbie Read
You may have experimented with paste papers in the past to use in books, but in this workshop you will learn how to use different tools and how to add layers to create more-complex designs.
Sculptural Stab Bindings, with Sandy Weisman
Take traditional stab bindings further and go sculptural, using shaped and cut pages, invented bindings, and unusual materials. Let your imagination soar!
Paste Paper 2, with Abbie Read
Move away from traditional patterning and explore color, mark making, and deep, rich combinations to create a very personal set of paste paper. Add to yesterday’s papers or start fresh.
Dos-à-Dos Binding, with Sandy Weisman
Create a dos-à-dos book using the accordion book concept, with three hard covers and two sets of pamphlet-stitched signatures, resulting in two books bound together, back to back!
Box Books, with Cynthia McGuirl
Delve into sculptural books by making a box book that can be folded flat and displayed in multiple ways. After you construct your book structure, you can create content using drawing, writing, and/or collage.
