ArtLab Vacation Week Video Series
Monday – Thursday | February 21-24
Free and open to all
Tune in for our online February Vacation Video Series with ArtLab educators Alexis Iammarino, Mia Bogyo and guest artist Rachel Alexandrou. Inspired by artists included in the Walk the Line exhibition, explore and play with line as a structure, form, and surface. For the final day, enjoy art activity with Rachel Alexandrou as you reimagine familiar landscapes through various senses; referencing works by Nicola López | Visions, Phantoms and Apparitions.
To spark your imaginations and get you started each day!
Video activities with instructional prompts will be posted to this page and Facebook each morning.
For local participants, complimentary ArtKits are available for pick up at CMCA beginning Wednesday, February 16, with limited supply available.
A few preparations to make in advance:
- Get inspired by visiting us in-person to explore CMCA Current Exhibitions or through our virtual tour
- Gather materials: various sized papers, water-based paints, brushes, colored pencils, oil pastels + other drawing tools, straight edge, scissors, glue stick
- Clear an area for art-making at your kitchen table or on the floor in a space where you and others have room to create; be sure to cover the area with newspaper, an old towel or tablecloth, or other protective covering to shield your work area if needed.
Rachel Alexandrou is an interdisciplinary artist who uses her education in plant science, and collaborative practice, to create experiential work about food, flora, and innovating human relationships to the natural landscape.
Alexis Iammarino is the Community Educator and Arts@Work Mentor for CMCA. She trained as a performing artist – in modern dance, ballet, and choreography – which has informed her studio practice in the visual arts and across several collaborations in film, public history, youth work and restorative justice. She is the founding artist and the mural director of Arts in Action (a program of RSU13 Adult and Community Ed. with support from the Anonimo Foundation) and co-director of Interloc Projects, a multidisciplinary artspace located at Steel House South in Rockland.
