Discoveries & Connections with Shapes
Join our February Vacation ArtLabs with teaching artists Jen Peppe and Sarah Lee, held Monday–Thursday mornings during February vacation week. Participants will explore discovering, identifying, and interpreting the shapes we see in everyday places and in our imaginations. Our explorations may connect to our natural environment and human relationships and the unique ways in which we express ourselves. Play and experiment with accumulating layers in mixed media with two collage sessions and two assemblage days!
Day 1 & 3: Mixed Media Collage: cardboard, papers, paints, templates, scissors, glue, etc. drawing inspiration from objects and shapes with attention to patterns, colors, and texture as well as explore positive and negative space, layering and composition.
Day 2 & 4: Assemblage: integrate cloth, yarn, textured fabrics, found objects to two-dimensional work.
Preparations to make in advance:
- Get inspired: Visit us in-person, located in downtown Rockland.
- Dress for a mess: Sometimes messes happen, printmaking materials include ink or paint. Dress for a mess just in case!
Free and open to artists of all ages; youth ages 12+ may attend without adult supervision.
