ArtLab | Material Histories
Quilting, embroidery, and weaving have long been means of documenting personal and shared histories. These are art forms in which the materials used contribute heavily to the story being told. In this month’s ArtLab Open Studios, we will look to the work of Rachel Gloria Adams, Ransome, Heather Lyon, José Santiago Pérez, Elaine Ng and Elyse Grams for inspiration. These artists reference and apply traditional and unexpected methods and materials in their storytelling. We invite you to join us in the ArtLab this month as we create small, mixed-media fiber works that reflect our memories and experiences through both text and image.
Open Studios offers drop-in opportunities and materials for visitors of all ages to creatively engage with and understand current exhibitions through self-directed art making.
