ArtLab | Handmade Memory
Join in a livestream ArtLab workshop led by Community Arts Educator Alexis Iammarino on Saturday, December 5, from 2 to 4pm on Facebook Live.
Taking inspiration from the works of Biennial artists Sam Finkelstein and Elyse Noelani Grams, participants will create mixed-media sculptures using air-dry clays and found objects. Led by Alexis, you’ll explore the making of small objects from memory, while embracing the slower pace of working by hand.
Following the livestream, participants are invited to join a Zoom call to share and discuss their work. To join the call, please email Alexis at aiammarino@cmcanow.org.
Discover new ideas by exploring the CMCA 2020 Biennial exhibition in advance of the workshop through the virtual tour or a visit our galleries.
Please note: For those tuning in locally, ArtKits with materials for Saturday’s workshop are available for pick up at CMCA during business hours beginning Wednesday, December 2.
Prep at home in advance:
- Clear an area for art making in a space where you and others have room to create; be sure to cover the area with newspaper, an old towel or tablecloth, or other protective covering.
- Gather materials: small stones & rocks, a brick, yarn, gardening twine, fabric scraps or old t-shirts, air-dry clay or homemade playdough, pipe cleaners, paints, brushes, glue.
