Art, Identity, and Vision
Join us for a second poetry workshop with author Claire Millikin. Participants will focus on artist Veronica Perez | voices, whispering, which raises intriguing questions about identity and inheritance. In this workshop, inspired by discussion of Perez’s original work, and other artworks, we create a poetry of reflection and remembrance, reflecting on form and sound to write about identity and vision.
Claire Millikin is the author of eight books of poetry, including Dolls (2Leaf Press 2021) and State Fair Animals (Unicorn Press 2019), a finalist for the Maine Literary Award in Poetry. For her anthology Enough! Poems of Protest and Resistance (Littoral Books 2020), she is a recipient of the Maine Literary Award. She teaches Art History at the University of Maine and at the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts. Under her married name of Claire Raymond she is the author of several books of scholarship on the history and theory of photography.
