The Roxanne Quimby Foundation, which has been an extraordinary friend to our mission of bringing thought-provoking exhibitions and education programs to Maine, has generously offered a 1:1 challenge match for NEW gifts over last year’s donation.* That means every new dollar you give this year will turn into $2 for CMCA. We invite you to help us meet this wonderful challenge!

Contemporary art makes our lives more joyful and interesting, challenges us to think and feel more deeply, and creates community by bringing people together, leading to greater appreciation of each other and our world. Every year, tens of thousands of people are inspired in our galleries by works that address important societal and environmental issues, or simply bring beauty and creativity into their lives. We offer opportunities with every exhibition to explore the galleries in free, guided, accessible arts education experiences that challenge everyone to engage more deeply – and even make their own art using materials inspired by the artwork.

I was honored to join CMCA this summer as Executive Director, working with our terrific staff and dedicated Board. I hope to strengthen the reach of CMCA as the leading place in Maine to present and interpret contemporary art and the creative process.

Also this summer, we formally bridged our legacy and future by naming our former Executive Director and current guest curator Suzette McAvoy as Executive Director and Chief Curator Emeritus in appreciation for all her tireless work and leadership.
