Thursday Yoga Flow with Lucy Spalding

July 27, 2017 | 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm EDT

Thursdays, 5:30-6:30pm
All levels welcome, by donation

End your busy summer Thursdays with a fun, dynamic practice surrounded by beautiful and inspiring art! This vinyasa-style class will begin with a few rounds of flowing movement to warm up the body and connect you to your breath, and finish with longer holds and stretches to relax and rejuvenate the senses. Everyone is welcome!

Note: Please bring a yoga mat if you have one and wear comfortable layers to move in.

Lucy’s personal journey with yoga began 7 years ago when she was in college in Southern California. Struggling with the transition after spending a year abroad, yoga provided a space to cope with daily stresses and just be present. The classes she attended were a welcome reminder to look inward, find your strength and breathe. Lucy was surprised to notice not only the physical, but the mental, emotional and spiritual benefits that yoga brought to her life. From this experience, Lucy has been inspired to share the gift of yoga with others. This dream was finally realized in December 2016, when she completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica with Jivani Yoga. As a yoga teacher, Lucy hopes to combine her love of travel, desire to connect with others and passion for the outdoors into a sustainable lifestyle that is exciting and fulfilling.

Lucy’s classes reflect her own personal style, balancing strong asana and dynamic movements with restorative poses and breath awareness. They may be centered around a specific theme, emotion or intention, or designed to draw attention to a certain area of the body. Students are encouraged to listen to their body and find what feels good, as every person has their own yoga. Classes are accessible to all levels of yoga practitioners and can be modified to suit individual needs. There is a strong focus on connecting with the breath and establishing proper alignment to avoid pain and potential injury. Lucy draws on the tools given to her during her training, as well as personal experience, to facilitate a personalized practice guided by breath. Lucy’s cheerful, lighthearted personality brings a calming, supportive atmosphere to all her classes.
