Gallery Talk | Kavanaugh + Nguyen

March 23, 2019 | 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

Join us for a gallery talk with artists Wade Kavanaugh and Stephen B. Nguyen, preceding the opening reception for their installation.

Working as collaborators for more than a decade, Kavanaugh and Nguyen were selected as recipients of the first Ellis-Beauregard Foundation Fellowship award from a pool of more than 200 applicants by jurors Jeffrey Peabody, Director, Matthew Marks Gallery, New York City, and Alison de Lima Greene, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Kavanaugh and Nguyen’s immersive installation, created on site at CMCA, draws inspiration from the Maine landscape tradition prompted by a visit to the Winslow Homer studio in Prout’s Neck and viewing the landforms along the water’s edge.

The EBF Fellowship award, in partnership with CMCA, reflects the vision of artists David Ellis and Joan Beauregard to support artists with the precious gift of time, and to encourage, expand, and sustain the courageous and imaginative dialogue that is fundamental to the arts.
