Life Reflected
In a storefront window, the shiny paint job on a passing car, the lenses of a stranger’s glasses, fragments of our daily lives are reflected back at us. In her work, Shinique Smith illustrates this phenomenon through the use of explosive color, gestural line, and mirrored surfaces. These surfaces act like portals, inviting viewers to enter the work and engage with it.
Create reflective vignettes inspired by Shinique’s practice using collage, text, and mirrored elements.
Open Studios offers drop-in opportunities and materials for visitors of all ages to creatively engage with current exhibitions through self-directed art making.
