Learn to design and build a peephole diorama that houses a secret world filled with creatures of our own creation. Surrealist artists and Victorian miniaturist works will also be studied as we think about how to best bring the world of our imaginations alive.

ArtLab Intensive after school classes invite students ages 10 – 13 years old to engage in contemporary artworks and artists. These week-long classes empower young artists to dive deep into one area of study, observing, critiquing, and applying skills to personal artworks.

Tara Morin is an educator and artist living in Rockland, ME. My work is play. I collect and configure shape and color. This practice began in childhood when I took pleasure from giving order and purpose to cast aside fragments, the detritus of daily life. Bits of broken glass and plastic found on sidewalks. Scraps from my mother’s woodworking bin. In adulthood, I have continued variations of this process. Now working in painting, drawing, collage and sculpture, I produce visually complex images and objects. Using found materials, I arrange and rearrange. I then vigorously edit and revise my work until I arrive at a place where the materials are fully reimagined into something both familiar and foreign.

– All attendees and staff are to wear face masks inside the ArtLab
– Hand sanitizing stations will be available at heavily trafficked areas; encouraging hand
sanitization during transitions
– Maintain social distancing of at least 3ft
