ArtLab for All Ages | June | Live Stream

June 6, 2020 | 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

Saturday, June 6 | 2-4pm
FREE and open to all

NOTE: CMCA is hosting is monthly ArtLab for All Ages workshops via Facebook Live throughout the period its doors are closed to the public in response to CDC guidelines on COVID-19.

ArtLab | Painted Connections

To encourage creativity and connection during this time of social distancing, artists of all ages are invited to join ArtLab educators Mia Bogyo and Alexis Iammarino on the first Saturday of the month at 2pm. Instead of meeting in person, we will gather on CMCA’s Facebook page for a live stream, interactive workshop, followed by an online show ‘n tell via Zoom at 3:30pm.

Join us this month to express personal narratives through painterly process. Referencing the work of Anne Neely in Skirting the Line, use personal memory and iconography to create a painting that is both abstract and representational.

Preparations in advance of the workshop:
  • Clear an area for art-making at your kitchen table or on the floor in a space where you and others have room to create; be sure to cover the area with newspaper, an old towel or tablecloth, or other protective covering to prevent any inadvertent damage!
  • Materials needed: thick paper base maybe cardboard, watercolor paper, cardstock– anything that will withstand paint and glue. Scissors, glue, water-based paints, brushes in a variety of sizes, a container to wash brush between uses.
  • Gather a variety of images that are personal to you, it may be a photograph, google image, or a book cover. Search throughout your home and have those images available for reference; option given to collage into painting.

ArtLab for All Ages is made free by the support of Wells Fargo.
