ArtLab | Printed Portraits
In celebration of Independence Day and summer join us as we create collagraph print portraits celebrating individuality and the creative being. Looking at a photo, mirror or using your imagination have fun creating a whimsical print from textured reliefs.
- Clear an area for artmaking at your kitchen table or on the floor in a space where you and others have room to create; be sure to cover the area with newspaper, an old towel or tablecloth, or other protective covering to prevent any inadvertent damage!
- Materials needed: A thicker cardstock, tagboard or cardboard for gluing materials onto, scissors, glue, acrylic or tempera paints, brushes of different sizes. Optional: mirror, photograph
- Gather a variety of materials to create your collagraph plate. Try finding an assortment of textured papers, fabrics, extra strings, twine, plastic pieces, foil and additional small pieces to add to the relief– the more the merrier! Raid your recycling bin or “junk drawer” for extra rubber bands and odds and ends.
