Kris Lanzer lives and works in coastal New Hampshire. During the 90’s, She had come to enjoy working with her hands — redefining spaces in and around a house, and building an art garden environment. This created a shift in her art making. It challenged her practice of painting illusionistic landscape space on a flat surface. She had discovered a new love for working with actual space, materials, and real nature. For thirty years since, she has built numerous art installations and mixed media sculptures.
Lanzer has exhibited at Bedrock Gardens (Lee, NH), The Art Center (Dover, NH), UMVA Gallery (Portland, ME), Barn Gallery (Ogunquit, ME), Artstream Gallery (Rochester, NH), 55 Mercer Gallery (SoHo, NY), UNH Museum of Art (Durham, NH) and BUOY Gallery (Kittery, ME). She was twice awarded Fellowships at Vermont Studio Center, and won the Mary Beasom Bishop & Francis Sumner Merritt Scholarship at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, Maine. Lanzer was a featured artist in the Maine Arts Journal—summer 2022 quarterly, and was granted a printmaking residency and exhibition at the Art Center, Dover, NH. In the next couple of years, she will be exhibiting her sculptures, a series of punch needle napkin drawings, and working on her book about the “Garden of Sustenance”.
