I work in painting, sculpture, collage and artist books. When not using paper and paint I make use of the discarded stuff of our lives: found objects, old books, altered books, book covers, old paper. The process of transformation drives my process and the elements of design dictate the compositions through much layering of materials.I have exhibited throughout New England, Michigan and Doha, Qatar, as part of the Art In Embassies Program from 2014-2016. In 2013 the first iteration of a large scale wall sculpture (now 40 feet long) titled "Library" was included in the Portland Museum of Art Biennial curated by Jessica May. That piece then went on to Qatar for two years. My work is in private collections throughout the U.S. I grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, on the campus of Phillips Academy, where my father taught and received my BA from Oberlin College. IN 1991 I received my MFA in Mixed Media from the University of Michigan School of Art in 1991, after teaching at Concord Academy in Concord, MA. I have lived in Appleton, Maine since 1998 and maintain my studio there on Appleton Ridge.
