CMCA EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Our Education Mission:

Dedicated to promoting dynamic engagement with contemporary art and artists, the Center for Maine Contemporary Art offers programs that fuel the imagination, stimulate forward thinking, and cultivate conversation.

Our priority is to develop programming that:

  • Expands access to the new ideas and modes of expression inherent in contemporary art

  • Provides authentic and experiential art education that engages local artists as teachers and mentors

  • Empowers individuals to explore their own capacities as creative thinkers and makers

FAMILY PROGRAMS

Our family art programs are designed to inspire creativity and provide fun, hands-on experiences for all ages! Whether you're looking to explore new mediums, create together, or enjoy seasonal activities, there's something for everyone: Open Studios, ArtLab for All, and Vacation ArtLabs.

K-12 School Groups & Educator PROGRAMs

Our K-12 art programs are designed to ignite creativity and provide enriching experiences for students and educators. Our Look Inside, Virtual Look Inside, After school partnerships, teen programs and ArtCamp workshops provide experiences for the next generation of contemporary artists.

Adult Programs

Our adult arts programs offer a wide range of creative opportunities for individuals looking to explore their artistic talents, refine skills, or simply enjoy a fun and inspiring experience. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner, these programs are designed to encourage personal expression, skill development, and a sense of community.

CMCA’s Education programs are offered free to the community through the support of the Milton & Sally Avery Arts Foundation, Margaret E. Burnham Trust, Proctor Foundation, Fischer Charitable Foundation, Margaret E Burnam Foundation, Sherman Family Foundation, Morton Kelly Charitable Trust, KHR Family Foundation, and The Onion Foundation, and through the support of individual donors and members.

Our educations programs serve 2,200+ individuals each year.
