Fragments Into Forms

Join our February Vacation ArtLabs with teaching artist Jen Peppe, held Monday–Thursday mornings during February vacation week. In this hands-on workshop, participants will engage in the creative process of assembling and disassembling objects, inspired by the work of artist Kyle Downs. We will experiment and play with assemblage and mosaic processes using fragments of various materials to craft new, unique forms. By experimenting with the combination and reconfiguration of disparate pieces, participants will discover endless creative possibilities. Come with an open, curious mindset, ready to transform simple objects into works of art and embrace the process of creation and reinvention.

Day 1 & 3: Wet media: glue and grout permanent works from various pieces and parts
Day 2 & 4: Dry media: deconstruct and reconstruct objects capturing the numerous ways of reconstruction through drawings and flat lays

Preparations to make in advance:

  • Get inspired: Visit us in-person, located in downtown Rockland.
  • Dress for a mess: Sometimes messes happen, printmaking materials include ink or paint. Dress for a mess just in case!

Free and open to artists of all ages; youth ages 12+ may attend without adult supervision.

About the instructor:
Jennifer Peppe’s adventures as an art educator began in 1996. She launched her career with a B.F.A. from University of North Carolina at Greensboro then earned a Master of Art Education at Kean University. She expanded her skillsets and cultural experiences throughout her career via study, traveling and teaching abroad. Decades of work with creative learners of all ages and abilities has strengthened her commitment to sharing art with others. After teaching art in an urban, suburban, public school, she has followed her love of art and nature and landed in midcoast Maine.
