September ArtLab for All
Saturday, Sept. 7 | 2:00–4:00pm
Instructor: Tori Marsh
Drop-in | Free and open to all!
Inspired by the mural On This Island, and the collection of paintings by Carla Weeks on view, participants will make mixed media collage pieces. Artists are encouraged to think about how Weeks uses color, pattern and rhythm to evoke memories and a reverence for place. The goal is to create a personalized piece that is inspired by memory, nature, color and place.
About the instructor
Tori Marsh is an embroidery artist, educator and mother based out of Rockland, Maine. Marsh has been using embroidery as a form of drawing for the past 8 years. Her surreal “wild women” draw upon the notion of goddess-like grace and power, but most importantly, they’re meant to be humorous. Tori is obsessed with Icelandic/Scandinavian knitwear, cross stitch patterns, quilts, and other textiles. Her embroideries have been shown across the country and she has had the privilege of attending residencies from Canada to Iceland.
