About the residencies
Founded in 1986, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts transformed an abandoned brick factory into an incubator for creativity and community in contemporary craft. Internationally known for our residencies, which provide artists time and space to explore ideas with clay, we also offer ceramic workshops, gallery exhibitions, public programs, and our beloved annual festival, Salad Days. For more information, visit www.watershedceramics.org.

The Running With Scissors Studios’ EMERGE Artist in Residency Program works to elevate and support emerging Maine artists working in print or clay. RWS supports two cohorts a year consisting of a print and a clay artist each session by providing 5 months of access to the RWS studios, equipment, and community. EMERGE AIR benefits include a private studio, access to print or clay equipment, common work areas and equipment, computer and print space, general amenities, a small stipend, and professional development support from staff and fellow artists. AIR will have two professional photo shoots, an interview spotlight in our newsletter and website, and a group exhibition with other annual AIR cohorts at the end of the year. They will also have the opportunity to participate in RWS group events and exhibitions.

The Monhegan Artists’ Residency provides comfortable living quarters, studio space, a stipend, and time for visual artists to reflect on, experiment, or develop their art and ideas while living in an artistically historic and beautiful location.
