In my work, I am interested in creating complex, harmonious and dream like worlds in each piece. I aim to evoke a sense of place, but not of a specific place. The images relate loosely to the landscape and mainly come from meditation, the dream state and random acts of chance. The history of each image is pushed by incorporating a saturated pallet of thick paint, transparent layering of media, and techniques that distress the surface. I am in a very real sense sculpting each image. Building layer upon layer, as we build upon our life experiences. What is underneath the exterior is just as important as what is readily and immediately seen.
