I am interested dealing with history and temporal existence by investigating themes of time. Divided into sections – the relationship between sea and sky, sedges and water and trees take on an abstract geometry.While I often photograph using available light, at times I favor a painting with light technique tohighlight a subject. With the darkness of night as the canvas, I shine light or in essence paintfavored areas of the scene with light during the camera exposure. I liken it to a darkroom printing technique but this process occurs in the camera, one shot, not post exposure. Whether I’m incorporating lights or not, the length of exposures can range from 20 seconds to upwards of 6 or more hours. I am often physically involved in the process, in front of the camera, thoughunseen, but still part of the story.
