CMCA depends on volunteers to help us carry out our programs. More than 50 volunteers help us with opening receptions, front desk duty, mailings, and more.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please complete our volunteer form.

Time Commitment
Depending on the time you have available for volunteering, you can select from various different volunteer opportunities.
Solo or Group?
Think about whether you'd like to volunteer by yourself at the front desk, or if you'd like to be a part of a group activity, such as helping out with a mailing, or working an opening reception.
Roles
Here are a few of the different roles we have for volunteers:

Front Desk
CMCA's front desk is staffed year-round by dedicated volunteers. In this role, you are the face of CMCA - the first person to greet and welcome our visitors. Front desk volunteers collect admission, assist in the gallery shop, and help to answer questions about CMCA and our current exhibitions.

Front desk volunteers are encouraged to commit to a regular schedule (e.g. every Wednesday afternoon, or every second Wednesday morning each month), but we are happy to schedule you as your time permits.

There are two shifts for the days we are open: 10am-1:30pm, and 1:30pm-5pm. Sunday shifts are 1pm-5pm.

Opening Receptions
Every opening reception needs a few volunteers for food preparation and service. In this role, you will be helping us prepare hors d'oeuvres or pouring drinks for guests.

Mailings
Like most nonprofits, CMCA does mailings for special events and fundraising several times a year. You will be working with a group of volunteers and staff to fold letters, stuff, stamp, and seal envelopes to help CMCA raise important funds to carry out its programs.

Special Events
Each year CMCA hold two special events: our Annual Benefit Auction on the first Sunday in August, and the Work of the Hand Craft Show and Sale for a week in October. Volunteers at these events help with registration, check-out, and other special duties.

Facilities
CMCA needs volunteers to help paint walls, complete small repairs, and maintain our gardens.
