Tom Burkhardt creates complex and subtly humorous compositions that question the nature of painting and what is real and unreal. His images invoke architecture, landscape, and human figures, inviting viewers to recognize familiar subjects in their abstract patterns.
Burkhardt lives in New York and spends his summers in Searsmont, Maine, his summer home since childhood. He has had solo shows at the Tibor De Nagy Gallery and the Caren Golden Fine Arts in New York and the Gregory Lind Gallery in San Francisco. In August 2014, CMCA displayed a series of Burckhardt’s recent paintings.
