My training in graphic design is obvious in my paintings. I lean toward dynamic compositions and brilliant yet subtle colors. I started painting when I lived in Boston, and after a few years, I applied to join the prestigious Copley Society. To my surprise, I had two paintings accepted. I moved to Cape Cod, and began painting the Cape’s extraordinary light and beautiful beaches … endless stretches of sun, sand and sea. I relocated to Maine and fell in love with oils — the look, the touch and even the smell of the paint. I hit the art books and visited galleries and museums to learn how other artists painted. After 15 paintings, I was ready to show my work. My paintings have been accepted at Art of the Sea’s “Marine Masters” exhibit, many RiverArts juried exhibitions, and Miles Hospital Hall Gallery (one-woman show, 21 paintings). I also participated in the annual “Arts in the Barn” series in Cushing. I have now published a catalog of my work, and continue to enjoy finding new subjects and discovering new techniques.
