My images are created using a laptop computer, 5 software programs, and an Intous electronic drawing tablet with stylus. After digitally drawing, painting and collaging shapes, colors and lines I print the image on special matte canvas with a 44-inch Epson archival pigment inkjet printer. I set the ink flow at 50% above normal to get a heavy deposit of inks on the canvas.
While the inks are still wet on the print I use a pointed stick to ‘drip paint’ over portions of the work. I stretch the canvas the next day and begin working on the image with a combination of acrylic paints, acrylic paint pens and solid oil paint bars. When the painting is finished, I use 4-6 coats of acrylic varnish to seal the work.
