Monica Kelly’s dreamlike paintings hover between abstraction and landscape, between the progression of time and the stillness of place. Stopping time into permanence is a recurring theme in her work. She often paints over sheet music, as if anchoring ephemeral sounds with paint.
Kelly has shown throughout Maine and in Ohio and North Carolina. She has been an artist-in-residence at Wheaton College, and in 2013 she had shows at Ten High Street Gallery in Camden and High Mountain Hall. She is also executive director of Bay Chamber Concerts in Rockport.
