Jay Wu cites the importance of his teacher Jon Imber’s encouragement in the development of his own refined and intimate work. The influence of Imber might be difficult to discern in Jay Wu’s intimate, finely rendered paintings, but the painter says Imber enouraged him in the development of his own artistic language.

Jay Wu received an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2004 and a BA in studio arts and mathematics from Boston College. He has exhibited at gWatson Gallery, Stonington; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; and the Attleboro Arts Museum. His paintings were shown at CMCA in 2014 in the exhibition Four Painters.
