Eric Hopkins’s images of the islands in Penobscot Bay have come to symbolize this part of the world. “I love to get up early and watch the sun illuminate another day over Rockland Harbor,” says Hopkins. “The sky, clouds, tide, and currents are constantly changing, second by second, from first light to high sun.”
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Hopkins has exhibited nationally and throughout Maine, including at the Farnsworth Art Museum, the Portland Museum of Art, and the University of Maine Museum of Art. His paintings and works in glass are in many public and private collections, among which are the Farnsworth Art Museum and the Portland Museum of Art.
